I have been an on/off Fan of the dudes forming Paradise Lost since 1995 when they released “Draconian times” and back then I was blown away. A good friend of mine and I also enjoyed “One Second” totally, although it was completely different from what came before it.
Out of sight, out of mind, here we are what, 25 years later and while I happily added all their albums to my catalogue digitally I didn’t really listen for a long time. Then … Obisidian was unleashed. The first song I clicked was “Fall from Grace” and shit, I was hooked again. The tone, the hooks during the verse – a little bit of doom and hints of goth and the great voice of Nick Holmes, paired with McIntoshs playing. So sweet. While “Draconian times” is their true landmark album, this one right here is straight up there with it.
